DC Rakesh Directs Dismantling of Old Bala Ashram Building, reviews facilities in Baroo

Kargil, Sept 27: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar (IAS) has directed the immediate dismantling of the old building at Bala Ashram, Baroo, with instructions to auction the salvaged material and initiate necessary repairs to improve facilities for students.

On Friday, the Deputy Commissioner undertook a detailed inspection of Bala Ashram to assess the facilities and infrastructure available to students residing at the centre. During the visit, he examined the condition of rooms, kitchen, smart room and other amenities. He was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Sameena Khatoon, Superintendent Bal Ashram, AEE R&B and other officials.

The DSWO briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the urgent requirement of funds for repairing and maintaining electric wiring in addition to other pending works. She also informed that 19 students are currently residing in the Bal Ashram hostel.

Taking stock of the situation, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated the need for dismantling the dilapidated building and auctioning the materials without delay. He further directed the Additional Deputy Commissioner to ensure that KREDA repairs all solar panels and submits a report on the functioning of solar plants installed across government departments.

Instructions were also issued to the DSWO to prepare a comprehensive inventory of the Ladies Training Centre and to utilise the available space as an indoor games facility and multipurpose hall. The Deputy Commissioner assured that indoor sports equipment would be provided through the Department of Youth Services and Sports. He additionally tasked the AEE R&B with landscaping and fencing the DSWO office premises, along with ensuring the immediate handover of all completed school buildings.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited High School Baroo and Boys Higher Secondary School Baroo, where he reviewed day-to-day academic activities and inspected the overall functioning of the institutions.
