Kathua: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma on Monday opened a two-day Continuous Professional Development (CPD) workshop for Trained Graduate Teachers of Physical Health Education and Headmasters of PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalayas across Jammu & Kashmir, setting the tone for an intensive training push at KV Kathua.
The workshop, tailored to enhance the professional capacity of educators, will run sessions on modern pedagogies, student-centred engagement methods, leadership practices and evolving academic approaches. Subject experts are scheduled to lead interactive modules aimed at strengthening classroom performance and improving the overall functioning of school institutions.
Soon after launching the workshop, the Deputy Commissioner dedicated a newly built library and an open gym to students on the KV Kathua campus. The library, furnished with reading bays and a wide range of learning resources, is expected to bolster academic support, while the open gym is intended to encourage outdoor exercise and reinforce the school’s focus on all-round development.
Sharma toured the campus, interacted with faculty and students, and reviewed facilities created under the school development plan. He commended the administration for upgrading academic and sports infrastructure and underlined the need for teachers to stay updated through continuous professional learning to meet changing educational demands. Urging students to utilise the reading spaces and fitness equipment, he stressed that such facilities could help improve both academic outcomes and personal well-being. Staff members briefed him on ongoing classroom activities, future plans and initiatives being rolled out under the PM Shri Schools programme.
