Leh, Dec 02: The longstanding dispute over land demarcation for a proposed Gonpa in Ibex Colony took centre stage on Tuesday as Deputy Commissioner Leh and CEO LAHDC Leh, Romil Singh Donk assured residents that the issue would be fast-tracked with the concerned authorities.
The commitment came during a public interaction held at the Ibex Colony Community Hall, where residents welcomed the DC in a traditional manner before submitting a memorandum led by Nambardar Sonam Rigzin. The community has been urging the administration to officially secure the designated site to prevent future encroachment and delay.
Responding to the appeal, Donk promised swift follow-up and emphasised that the administration remains focused on transparent mechanisms for grievance redressal. He encouraged locals to actively participate in such platforms to ensure their concerns are addressed without delay.
The outreach initiative aimed to enhance communication between the administration and residents while addressing developmental concerns in the locality. Former Councillor of Lower Leh, Tsering Namgyal, praised both the collective effort of the community and the proactive stance displayed by the district administration.
The programme saw the presence of CPO Leh Tsewang Gyalson, Tehsildar Leh, officers from various departments and a large number of residents, who expressed optimism that the renewed administrative intervention would bring closure to the long-pending issue.
