Leh, May 07: The fourth day of the Sacred Exposition of the Holy Relics of Gautama Buddha in the Union Territory of Ladakh was marked by a cultural evening featuring performances by artists and cultural troupes from different parts of the country, alongside presentations rooted in Ladakh’s traditional heritage.
The programme, organised under the aegis of the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the North Zone Cultural Centre, witnessed participation from residents, tourists, officials and devotees attending the ongoing exposition in Leh. DIG ITBP Tashi Namgyal attended the event as the chief guest.
The evening commenced with a welcome address and an introductory presentation on Lharna, offering insights into Ladakh’s cultural traditions and social heritage. This was followed by a performance by Gya Meru artists, who presented the traditional Chabs-Skyabs song and dance, drawing appreciation from the audience.
Cultural troupes from Odisha and Gujarat staged a series of folk performances reflecting the musical and dance traditions of their respective regions. The performances were presented at intervals throughout the evening, contributing to a diverse cultural programme that blended regional expressions with local artistic traditions.
The LACS Cultural Group presented the traditional Spao dance, while Ladakhi folk singers Tsering Diskit, Yourdon and Tsewang Paldan performed local folk compositions that received an enthusiastic response from attendees.
The cultural programme concluded with a musical performance by the Luyangs Band.
Officials associated with the event said the daily cultural evenings are intended to complement the spiritual importance of the Sacred Relics Exposition by creating a wider platform for cultural exchange and artistic outreach. The exposition, which began earlier this week, is scheduled to continue till May 13.
