KARGIL: BJP Kargil Town President Ahsan Ali on Wednesday called on Executive Engineer, R&B Division-II Kargil, Er. Mansoor Hussain, and submitted a memorandum seeking expedited completion of ongoing road infrastructure projects, while raising concerns over delays affecting public convenience and regional development.
At the centre of the memorandum were demands for the early completion of the alternative road connecting Kako Shilikchey with Doks Goma, Kargil and Lankore, and the completion of the long-pending Yangti Link Road. Ahsan Ali urged the Roads and Buildings Department to ensure that the alternative road project is executed strictly in accordance with the approved alignment and technical drawings without deviation and completed within the stipulated timeframe.
According to the memorandum, the alternative road is intended to improve connectivity, ease traffic congestion on existing routes and facilitate smoother movement for residents of the area. Ahsan Ali stated that timely completion of the project would provide substantial relief to the local population and contribute to broader developmental objectives.
The BJP leader also highlighted the prolonged delay in the Yangti Link Road project, stating that the road has remained incomplete for nearly two years. He said the delay has caused hardship to residents and deprived the area of the intended benefits of the project, while adversely affecting socio-economic activities.
Referring to infrastructure development initiatives in Ladakh, Ahsan Ali noted that substantial public resources have been allocated for road connectivity and other developmental works. He argued that delays in project execution not only inconvenience the public but also lead to cost escalation, increasing the burden on the public exchequer and undermining the objective of delivering timely infrastructure.
Calling for accountability and adherence to approved plans, he urged the department to take immediate steps to accelerate the pending works, maintain quality standards and ensure that public projects are completed within prescribed timelines.
During the meeting, Executive Engineer Er. Mansoor Hussain assured that the issues highlighted in the memorandum would be examined and that necessary measures would be taken for their early resolution.
