Jammu, Dec 25: CMH College of Legal Studies on Thursday observed Good Governance Day, bringing together students, legal experts and senior officials to discuss transparency, accountability and ethical conduct in public administration.
The programme was organised with the aim of sensitising young law students to the principles that guide a fair and responsible system of governance. The event began with a welcome address by first-semester student Arushi Sharma, followed by a series of student speeches that reflected thoughtful engagement with the theme.
Students Siya Mahajan, Mahvish Khan, Khushi Sharma and Jaiveer Singh spoke on good governance and transparency in public life, highlighting the role of citizens and institutions in upholding democratic values.
Delivering the keynote lecture, Vikas Gupta, DIG, Anti-Corruption Bureau, underlined transparency, rule of law, probity and accountability as the foundations of a healthy democracy. He explained the working of the Anti-Corruption Bureau and its role in ensuring clean and people-oriented administration.
Advocate Meenakshi Slathia of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court briefed students on the Right to Information Act and the importance of independent bodies in promoting openness. Panel Lawyer Uma Kapahi from District Legal Services Authority Jammu stressed the responsibility of youth in building a corruption-free society.
Chairman JNB Chowdhary and Zulfkar Ali emphasised the role of law students in shaping a transparent and developed nation. The programme concluded with an interactive session and a vote of thanks by Maitree Jain. The proceedings were conducted by Kanwaljeet Kour.
