Zanskar, May 13 : The Health Department in Zanskar organised a medical camp at Karsha Gompa during the ongoing Sacred Holy Relics event, providing healthcare assistance to devotees and visitors attending the religious gathering.
Officials said nearly 150 patients were examined from Monday till 1 pm on Tuesday, with doctors attending primarily to cases related to gastric ailments, headaches and seasonal fever.
The health camp, organised by the Community Health Centre (CHC) Zanskar, was set up to ensure timely medical support and maintain public health arrangements during the large religious congregation at the monastery.
Medical teams conducted basic health check-ups, provided essential treatment and offered on-the-spot medical advice to patients visiting the camp.
Dr. Dechana Lamo said the initiative was aimed at ensuring the well-being of devotees and facilitating immediate healthcare access during the sacred event, which has been drawing visitors from different parts of the region.
Officials noted that healthcare preparedness has been an important component of arrangements made for the Sacred Holy Relics programme, particularly in view of the increased footfall at religious venues in Zanskar.
Devotees and local residents appreciated the efforts of the Health Department in maintaining medical services and ensuring health and safety during the religious observance.
The health outreach programme forms part of broader administrative measures being undertaken alongside the Sacred Holy Relics celebrations, where public welfare and crowd management arrangements have been prioritised to facilitate smooth conduct of the event.
