Kargil, Apr 21 : The School Education Department in Kargil on Monday honoured outstanding performers of the CBSE Class 10 examination at a felicitation ceremony held at the Chief Education Office, recognising five students for their academic excellence.
The ceremony, conducted under the directions of Administrative Secretary Bhanu Prabha, saw Chief Education Officer Sonam Wangchuk felicitating the district toppers in the presence of Councillor Abdul Hadi.
Two students — Aquba Rabiya of Government High School Panikhar and Nargis Banoo of PM SHRI Higher Secondary School Lankoor — secured the top position jointly with 458 marks out of 500, translating to 91.6 per cent. Mohmad Sakib of Higher Secondary School Panikhar stood second with 440 marks (88 per cent), while Bintul Huda of Higher Secondary School Drass and Sakina Banoo of High School Tambis shared the third position with 438 marks each (87.6 per cent).
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Education Officer commended the students for their performance and urged them to remain focused in their academic journey. He emphasised the importance of discipline and responsibility in shaping their future roles as citizens.
Councillor Abdul Hadi also congratulated the achievers and encouraged them to aim higher standards in the coming years. As part of the recognition, he presented cash awards to the toppers.
The students, in their brief remarks, acknowledged the support extended by the School Education Department and credited their teachers and families for guiding them through their preparation.
The ceremony concluded with a message of encouragement for students across the district, reinforcing the focus on academic dedication and consistent effort in school education.
