Kargil, Sept 20: Chief Electoral Officer of Ladakh, Rahul Sharma, took charge of a high-level meeting at the Conference Hall in Baroo, Kargil, to review strategies for the ongoing revision of the electoral roll. Sharma emphasized the critical role of precise and timely mapping of electors to uphold transparency and inclusiveness in the upcoming electoral process.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Election Officer Kaneez Fatima, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, Tehsildars from different blocks, the Election Officer, and Booth Level Officer (BLO) Supervisors from the district. Discussions centered on strategies adopted for mapping electors in the rolls of 2025 and 2005.
Underscoring the need for timely and accurate entries, the CEO instructed officials to accelerate the process so that duplication is avoided and no eligible voter is left out. Officers were reminded that delays in field work could hamper the revision exercise and were urged to intensify their efforts to meet the deadlines. Reports, he said, must be submitted strictly in the prescribed format to uphold uniformity and accuracy across data compilation.
The meeting also assessed the current pace of work, with the CEO reiterating that adherence to the timeline was essential for a smooth revision process. Officials were asked to provide regular updates in line with stipulated schedules to ensure that every stage of the roll revision proceeds without disruption.
The review concluded with an interactive session in which participants sought clarifications on ground-level challenges and technical issues. The initiative is expected to enhance the quality of the electoral rolls by addressing cases of unmapped and shifted voters, thereby ensuring a more inclusive and reliable record of electors in the district.
