PADUM : The first phase of Census 2027, comprising House Listing Operations, commenced across Tehsil Zanskar on Monday, marking the beginning of the nationwide population enumeration exercise in the region.
Deputy Commissioner Zanskar, Omkar Rajendra Gundage, IAS, formally launched the exercise by distributing census kits to Supervisors at Padum. Tehsildar and Charge Officer Zanskar, Mohd Hassan, was also present during the distribution programme.
Following the distribution of kits, Supervisors proceeded to their respective jurisdictions to oversee and verify the work being undertaken by Enumerators, who have begun field visits for house listing and collection of relevant data.
Officials said the verification process is intended to ensure the accuracy, reliability and quality of information being gathered during the House Listing Operations, which constitute the first stage of Census 2027.
The administration has deployed Supervisors and Enumerators across the tehsil to undertake the exercise in a systematic manner. The field staff will visit households to record prescribed details as part of the census enumeration process.
The District Administration urged all Supervisors and Enumerators to discharge their responsibilities with dedication and professionalism to ensure the smooth conduct of the exercise. It also emphasised the importance of accurate data collection for the successful implementation of the Census programme.
The House Listing Operations will form the basis for subsequent phases of Census 2027 and are expected to provide updated information on households and related demographic indicators across the tehsil.
