Drass: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, brought its extensive series of Integrated Communication and Outreach Programmes to a close on Saturday with a concluding event held in Drass, Kargil. The initiative, spanning two weeks, reached several remote and border areas of Ladakh including Tyakshi, Leh, Kargil, and Drass.
The outreach campaign focused on themes such as Viksit Bharat, Swachhata, Mission LiFE, New Criminal Laws, and Vigilance Awareness. Designed to raise awareness about development, environmental protection, sustainable lifestyles, and citizen-centric governance, the programmes aimed to connect directly with local communities and youth in some of the country’s most challenging terrains.
At the final leg in Drass, students from Government Degree College Drass, Government Higher Secondary School Drass, and Government Higher Secondary School Bhimbet participated in various activities, reflecting strong enthusiasm among the region’s younger population.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Drass, Vishal Atri, who attended as the chief guest, commended the CBC for its efforts in ensuring communication and engagement at the grassroots level across Ladakh’s high-altitude settlements. Addressing the gathering, Naseer Ahmad Rather, Field Publicity Officer, CBC Srinagar, reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to strengthening outreach through participatory and creative communication drives.
The day-long event included expert talks, interactive sessions, and competitions in quiz, painting, and debate, along with cultural performances and skits presented by CBC’s empanelled artists. The presentations underscored messages of cleanliness, development, and responsible citizenship. The programme concluded with a collective Swachhata Pledge, as participants resolved to uphold cleanliness, environmental protection, and civic discipline—marking the end of a region-wide campaign that bridged communication gaps and amplified government initiatives across the far reaches of Ladakh.
