Jammu, Mar 19: The Taushi Shakha of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Jammu and Kashmir Prant, convened its Annual General Meeting alongside elections of office bearers at Baby Caterers Banquet Hall in Rehari Colony here on Thursday.
The proceedings were attended by the President of the J&K Prant of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Sunita Gupta, who graced the occasion as the guest of honour. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp followed by the rendition of the National Song by participants.
During the election process, Ajay Khajuria (JKAS, Retired) was re-elected as President of the Taushi Branch. Er. Arvind Khajuria was elected as Secretary, while Prof. Ajay Khajuria was re-elected as Treasurer. All appointments were made unanimously.
The election proceedings were conducted under the supervision of appointed observers Arun Sharma, Regional Joint General Secretary, North-1, and Rakesh Sharma, Finance Secretary, J&K Prant of Bharat Vikas Parishad, who formally announced the results.
Addressing the gathering, Sunita Gupta commended the initiatives undertaken by the Taushi Branch and called for intensified efforts towards women’s upliftment. She also raised concern over the growing menace of drug abuse among youth, noting its adverse impact on health and its role in causing premature deaths in several cases.
Earlier, the annual report and financial statement for the financial year 2025–26 were presented by President Ajay Khajuria and Treasurer Prof. Ajay Khajuria, respectively. The report detailed the branch’s activities in areas such as public health, economic empowerment, promotion of ethical values, and environmental awareness.
The leadership also highlighted the branch’s contributions since its inception two years ago. Copies of the annual report for 2024–25 were distributed among attendees.
The contributions of outgoing Secretary Jagmohan Sharma were acknowledged and appreciated by members of the branch as well as representatives from the J&K Prant and North-1 Region present at the meeting.
Arrangements for the event were coordinated by K.L. Anand, with administrative support from Chandermohan Sharma, Sanskar Pramukh, and Vinod Kumar, Joint Secretary of the Taushi Branch.
