Leh, Oct 08: Displaying exceptional professionalism and engineering prowess, Project VIJAYAK of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) restored a critical lifeline to the border region of Turtuk in record time after the collapse of a vital Bailey bridge.
The incident, which disrupted connectivity on the Leh–Chalunka Road, posed a significant challenge for movement to Sub Sector Haneef, an important forward area in the Nubra region of Ladakh. Responding swiftly, BRO personnel under Project VIJAYAK immediately initiated emergency measures, creating an upstream diversion to ensure temporary movement and facilitate retrieval of bridge components.
Working under harsh terrain and extreme weather conditions, the BRO engineers launched a new 110-feet Bailey Bridge, now named Skaru Bridge, to fully restore vehicular connectivity. The entire operation—from collapse to complete restoration—was executed in record time, underscoring the organisation’s hallmark efficiency and commitment.
Officials lauded the tireless efforts of the BRO team, describing the feat as a “testament to the resilience, precision, and unwavering dedication” of the organisation towards ensuring seamless connectivity in India’s most challenging border landscapes.
