Kargil, Sept 09: MSW (DES) Dinesh Tufanya of Project Vijayak lost his life on September 7 in a tragic accident while performing official duties in the Dras sector. He was engaged in road construction work when a boulder struck him fatally during post-blast clearance operations in the rugged mountain terrain.
The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the Border Roads Organisation, where colleagues recall Tufanya’s dedication to duty in one of the most unforgiving environments. Despite the hazards that come with high-altitude projects, he continued to serve until his final breath, a testament to his resolve and sense of responsibility.
The Director General Border Roads and all ranks have expressed deep sorrow at the untimely loss. In a statement, the organisation extended solidarity with the bereaved family and paid homage to Tufanya’s courage and commitment under arduous circumstances.
Officials and fellow workers have described his sacrifice as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by personnel engaged in creating and maintaining vital road networks in remote border regions.
