MUMBAI, January 17: Veteran Bollywood actor and filmmaker Deepak Tijori has lodged a police complaint against three individuals who allegedly cheated him of Rs 2.5 lakh by promising to secure investors for his upcoming film project, with Bangur Nagar police registering an FIR for cheating and criminal conspiracy.
The scam unfolded in February 2025 when Tijori, seeking Rs 25 crore funding, was introduced to Kavita (also named Kavita Shibag Kapoor/Cooper in reports) through an industry broker. Kavita claimed ties to major firms like T-Series and Zee Network, later connecting him with Fauzia RC (or Fauzia Arshi), who posed as a film producer promising a “Letter of Interest” (LOI) from a prominent content company.
Tijori signed an MoU and paid Rs 2.5 lakh via RTGS as an advance, but the accused stopped responding after receiving the money. Verification revealed no association with the claimed companies, prompting the FIR last month under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 316(2), 318(4), and 3(5).
Police will summon the accused—including a third unidentified person—for questioning as the probe continues. Tijori, known for films like Aashiqui and Khiladi, highlighted the industry’s vulnerability to such frauds targeting producers
