Leh, Dec 23: BJP State President Tashi Gyaltson Khachu on Tuesday expressed appreciation for the humanitarian decision taken by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, who chose to place a citizen’s medical emergency above official protocol.
According to information available, the Lieutenant Governor was scheduled to travel to Kargil by official helicopter. However, after being informed about a critically ill patient requiring immediate medical attention, the LG altered his travel plans without delay.
He instructed officials to use the helicopter to airlift the patient to Srinagar for advanced treatment, allowing the patient to receive timely care.
Commending the decision, Tashi Gyaltson said the move reflected the administration’s people-first approach. He noted that prioritising a medical evacuation over official travel sends a strong message of compassion and responsibility.
“The Lieutenant Governor’s decision shows that public service is about safeguarding lives above all else,” Gyaltson stated, adding that such actions strengthen public trust in the administration across the Union Territory of Ladakh.
