Kargil, May 12 : The demand for the establishment of a Zonal Education Office at Headquarters Marpothang under the TSG Block and creation of a Niabat for the Thasgam Barsoo Block of Sankoo Zone figured prominently during a meeting between a delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party from Kargil and Vinai Kumar Saxena on Monday.
The delegation, led by Ladakh BJP Chief Tashi Gyaltson Khachu, former Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Leh Tashi Gyalson, BJP Ladakh Vice President Haji Anayat Ali, BJP Kargil President Assadullah Munshi and Mohammad Askari advocated that the proposed administrative units were necessary to strengthen educational governance and improve administrative accessibility in remote areas of Kargil district.
According to the delegation, the absence of a dedicated Zonal Education Office at Marpothang has affected administrative coordination and educational management in the TSG Block, while the creation of a Niabat for Thasgam Barsoo Block was projected as necessary for improving public service delivery and administrative outreach in the Sankoo sector.
The BJP leaders also sought the upgradation of several government schools in Kargil district, including Middle School Marpothang, Ranthag Namsuru and Wakha Goshan, arguing that the strengthening of educational infrastructure remained essential for remote areas of the district.
The delegation expressed appreciation to the administration for approving the upgradation of Girls Higher Secondary School Hagnis, describing it as a longstanding demand of both the local population and the party.
During the interaction, the delegation additionally raised the issue of amendment to SRO-520 issued by the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir Government in connection with the command area issue concerning 13 employees. Service-related concerns affecting government employees were also discussed.
Sources familiar with the meeting said the delegation stressed the need for decentralised administrative infrastructure and stronger institutional mechanisms to address the challenges faced by people living in far-flung regions of Kargil.
Responding to the issues raised, Vinai Kumar Saxena assured the delegation that all genuine demands and developmental concerns would be examined for necessary action.
Speaking after the meeting, Haji Anayat Ali expressed hope that greater administrative attention towards Kargil would accelerate developmental activities and strengthen public institutions across the district.
