Leh, Aug 28: A delegation of BJP members from Charasa–Burma village on Wednesday called on the Chairman of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, to extend their gratitude for the council’s proactive role in addressing the region’s long-pending infrastructural demand.
The delegation lauded the CEC and Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk for championing the proposal of the Shatse Taknak Bridge over the Shayok River, a critical link expected to connect Disket with Burma village. The members particularly acknowledged the council leadership’s efforts in taking the matter to New Delhi, where they met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and MoS Roads and Highways to expedite the sanctioning process.
The visiting delegation also expressed appreciation for Councillor Tiger Rigzen Lundup and Councillor Panamik Tsering Sandup, whose recent follow-up visit to the national capital kept the momentum on the bridge project alive.
Besides expressing their gratitude, the BJP members apprised the CEC of the pressing developmental concerns of Charasa–Burma villages. In response, Advocate Gyalson assured the delegation of his full support, promising that all issues raised would be taken up on priority.
The proposed Shatse Taknak Bridge, once sanctioned, is expected to be a lifeline for the Nubra region, providing all-weather connectivity and easing access for local communities.
