KARGIL: A BJP delegation from Kargil on Monday urged the Ladakh Administration to expedite the ongoing data collection exercise concerning left-out daily wagers, as delays in the submission of records by several government departments continue to hold up the consolidation process.
The delegation, led by BJP Kargil District President Assadullah Munshi, along with BJYM Kargil District President Adv. Mohd Hassanain Rocky and Town President Ahsan Ali Alikoo Mandal, met Director Finance, UT Ladakh, Mrs. Kaneez Fatima, to seek clarity on the status of the exercise and press for timely action on pending cases.
During the meeting, the delegation conveyed concerns over the uncertainty faced by affected daily wagers and emphasised that the verification process should be completed without further delay to ensure that all eligible workers are brought within its ambit.
According to officials, the data compilation exercise has encountered delays as information from a number of departments remains incomplete. While several departments have already submitted the required records in hard-copy form, the corresponding digital records are yet to be furnished, impeding the preparation of a consolidated database.
Responding to the concerns, Mrs. Fatima informed the delegation that her office is actively following up with the departments concerned. She said a formal communication would be issued within the next few days, reminding all departments to submit the pending information so that the exercise can move forward without further procedural hurdles.
The Director Finance reiterated the administration’s commitment to completing the process and assured the delegation that efforts were underway to obtain the remaining records at the earliest.
The delegation welcomed the assurance and expressed hope that the departments yet to furnish the requisite information would respond promptly. It maintained that the timely completion of the exercise was essential for addressing the long-pending concerns of left-out daily wagers across the Union Territory.
The issue has remained a matter of concern for a section of daily wagers awaiting inclusion in official records, with the ongoing verification and data consolidation exercise being viewed as a crucial step towards resolving their cases.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing the need for coordinated efforts and administrative follow-up to ensure the early completion of the process.
