Leh, Apr 04: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ladakh Unit organised a cadre training programme in Lamayuru area of Sham district, where 15 workers from the Indian National Congress formally joined the party, signalling a shift in local political alignments.
The induction took place on the sidelines of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Training Mahabhiyan 2026 at Lamayuru, organised by the BJP’s Sham district unit. Party leaders said the new entrants had expressed confidence in the BJP’s organisational approach and policy direction.
The programme was led by Tashi Gyaltsan Khachu, with Ashok Koul in attendance. Participation from workers across six mandals underscored the party’s ongoing efforts to reinforce its base at the grassroots level.
Senior leaders, including Dorjey Angchuk, Tsering Angchuk, Morup Dorje and Rinchen Dolkar, addressed the gathering, outlining the party’s ideological framework and discussing the implementation of welfare schemes.
The session brought together state executive members, former executive councillors, councillors, and representatives of the Mahila Morcha, reflecting organisational coordination across different levels.
Speakers stressed the importance of expanding the party’s reach at the village level, strengthening engagement with the public, and ensuring that welfare initiatives are effectively delivered. The leadership reiterated its focus on development-oriented interventions in the region.
The training programme forms part of the BJP’s broader strategy to consolidate its presence in Ladakh through organisational training and outreach, even as the induction of Congress workers signals emerging realignments within local political ranks.
