GOPESHWAR, May 24: An avalanche originating from Kuber Bhandar peak struck the upper catchment of Kanchan Ganga about two kilometres above the Badrinath shrine on Sunday morning, officials said. There were no casualties or damage to property, and the snow mass stopped within a valley without affecting the Badrinath National Highway.
Chamoli District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar described the incident as a common natural occurrence and said traffic and daily life in the area remain normal. He urged the public to ignore social media rumours and rely on official updates, adding that the district administration is continuously monitoring the site.
