Drass: A delegation of Veer Naris, Ex-Servicemen and children on Wednesday visited the Kargil War Memorial to pay homage to soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil conflict.
The visit was organised under the aegis of the Dras Warriors Brigade in coordination with the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha.
The delegation comprised 39 Veer Naris, six Ex-Servicemen and 53 children, who were taken around the memorial and briefed about the events and military operations associated with the Kargil War.
During the visit, participants paid floral tributes to the fallen soldiers and viewed exhibits depicting the courage, sacrifice and battlefield operations carried out by the Indian Army in the high-altitude conflict zone.
An interaction session was also organised as part of the programme, where veterans and Army personnel shared accounts of bravery and sacrifice associated with the war. Special emphasis was laid on inspiring children to imbibe the values of patriotism, discipline and national service.
Officials associated with the event said such initiatives were aimed at preserving the legacy of the Kargil War and strengthening awareness among younger generations about the sacrifices made by armed forces personnel in safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity.
Participants appreciated the efforts of the Indian Army and Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha in organising the visit and promoting awareness about the history and significance of the Kargil War memorial site in Drass.
