DRAS, July 26: Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth on Sunday paid glowing tributes to the soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War, saying their courage, sacrifice and dedication continue to inspire generations and reaffirming the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to the nation.

Addressing a gathering at the Kargil War Memorial during the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorations, General Seth said he felt “a new energy and a new pride” while paying homage to the brave martyrs and their families.

The Army Chief welcomed Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s presence at the commemorative event, describing it as a source of inspiration for the armed forces.

Recalling the heroism displayed during the Kargil conflict, General Seth said the memories of the brave soldiers remain etched in the nation’s consciousness. He also recited a poem written by one of his soldiers as a tribute to the indomitable spirit of the Indian Army.

Highlighting the exceptional qualities of Indian soldiers, General Seth said there is “no comparison with any army in the world,” adding that the courage, discipline and commitment of Indian troops make them unique.

Reiterating the Army’s role beyond protecting the country’s borders, the Chief of Army Staff assured the nation that the Indian Army remains fully committed to contributing to India’s development while continuing to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
