SRINAGAR, Sept 27 : Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth has called for constant vigilance and intensified intelligence-led operations to counter emerging terrorist threats in Jammu and Kashmir.
General Seth visited forward areas in north and central Kashmir, including Kupwara and Budgam, on Friday and reviewed the operational preparedness of security forces deployed in the region.
According to the Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI), the Army Chief visited Rashtriya Rifles sector headquarters under the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps and took stock of the ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
He was briefed on the prevailing security situation and measures being taken to detect, deter and decisively respond to terrorist threats.
Commending the troops for their professionalism, commitment and high level of operational preparedness, Gen Seth directed them to maintain constant vigilance, strengthen intelligence-based operations and retain the ability to respond swiftly and precisely to emerging threats.
The Army Chief also stressed the importance of close coordination and seamless synergy among all stakeholders to improve situational awareness and strengthen the overall counter-terrorism response.
During his visit, commendations were also pinned on soldiers for their gallantry and exemplary service in counter-terrorism operations.
Gen Seth emphasised the need to remain ahead of emerging threats while maintaining a sustained operational focus and ensuring a coordinated and calibrated response, with the safety and security of the local population remaining a priority.
The Army said it remains committed to countering terrorism, strengthening coordination among security agencies and maintaining a secure environment in Jammu and Kashmir.
The security review comes amid intensified counter-terror operations across north and central Kashmir. Earlier this month, security forces neutralised a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander identified as Pakistani national Yasir during an operation in the dense forests of Yusmarg in Budgam district.
Security forces have continued operations across the Pir Panjal range and adjoining forest areas to detect terror hideouts and prevent infiltration attempts.
