Anantnag, May 5: Intensifying its crackdown on drug trafficking, Anantnag Police has attached immovable property worth around ₹85 lakh under the provisions of the NDPS Act, delivering a major blow to the narcotics network in the district.
Acting under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act, Police Station Srigufwara attached a single-storey residential house belonging to Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Shalgam, Srigufwara. The property has been identified as proceeds of illicit drug trafficking.
The accused is linked to FIR No. 72/2022 registered at Police Station Srigufwara under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Investigations revealed that the property was acquired using illegal earnings generated through the narcotics trade.
After completing due legal formalities, the property has been formally attached in accordance with the law.
Officials said the action is part of a sustained campaign to dismantle the financial backbone of drug networks in the district. By targeting assets acquired through illegal means, police aim to not only prosecute offenders but also curb the economic support of the drug trade.
Anantnag Police reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating the drug menace and warned that strict action, including property attachment, will continue against those involved in narcotics activities.
