NEW DELHI, MAY 5 : The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday appointed Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the central observer for the election of its legislative party leader in West Bengal.
The party also named Union Minister J. P. Nadda as central observer for the selection of its legislative party leader in Assam.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has been appointed as co-observer for Assam, while Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will serve as co-observer for West Bengal, according to a party notification.
The appointments come in the wake of the BJP’s victory in the recent Assembly elections, where it unseated the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal and retained power in Assam for a third consecutive term.
