Anantnag, Jun 3 : In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Anantnag Police on Wednesday attached a residential property worth approximately ₹60 lakh belonging to an alleged drug peddler under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police identified the accused as Aasif Hussain Khan alias Soab Don, son of Abdul Gani Khan, a resident of Anchidora in Anantnag district.
The attached property includes a two-storey residential house constructed on six marlas of land. Officials said the attachment was carried out under Section 68F of the NDPS Act after completing all necessary legal formalities.
According to police, investigations revealed that the property had allegedly been acquired through proceeds generated from illegal drug trafficking and other narcotics-related activities.
Police said the action forms part of an intensified campaign to dismantle the financial networks and infrastructure supporting the drug trade. By targeting assets allegedly acquired through illicit earnings, authorities aim to ensure that offenders do not benefit from the proceeds of crime.
Reaffirming its commitment to combating the drug menace, Anantnag Police urged the public to share information about drug peddling and related criminal activities. Officials said the drive against narcotics traffickers and their assets will continue across the district.
