LEH: The All Ladakh Moravian Christian Association (ALMCA) has announced that it will observe sober Christmas celebrations in 2025, placing all festive programmes on hold as a mark of solidarity with the victims of the tragic incident of September 24, 2025.
In a press release, the Association expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the four martyrs who lost their lives, as well as to those who were injured and affected during the unfortunate events surrounding the Safe Guards incident.
The Association also extended solidarity to individuals who were arrested in connection with the incident.
The ALMCA stated that the decision to suspend Christmas celebrations was taken after careful consideration, keeping in view the grief and emotional turmoil being experienced by many families and community members across Ladakh.
The Association emphasised that the move was intended to honour the memory of those who lost their lives and to stand united with all those impacted by the tragedy.
“In light of these tragic circumstances, we stand united with our fellow Ladakhspa members who are affected by these events,” the statement said, acknowledging the immense pain and suffering endured by the victims’ families.
The Association urged members of the Christian community to dedicate the Christmas period to prayer, reflection and contemplation, encouraging unity, mutual support and healing during this time of mourning. It called upon people to come together in peace and compassion rather than celebration.
