New Delhi, April 10: Justice Yashwant Varma of the Allahabad High Court, facing impeachment after burnt wads of currency notes were discovered at his New Delhi residence, has resigned. He submitted his letter to President Droupadi Murmu on April 9, sources confirmed Friday.
In the missive, Varma wrote: “Your Excellency, While I do not propose to burden your august office with the reasons… it is with deep anguish that I hereby tender my resignation from the office of Judge of the Hon’ble High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, with immediate effect. It has been an honour to serve.”
The incident dates to March 14 last year, prompting his repatriation from Delhi High Court to Allahabad HC.
