Leh, Apr 2: A delegation of monastic leaders from Nubra Valley on Wednesday met former Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of the BJP-led Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, Tashi Gyalson, to discuss ongoing support and future development of a key educational institution in the region.
The delegation, led by Geshe Lharampa Thupstan Rinchen, Principal of Samgon Chamtse School, Samstanling Gonpa, Sumoor, included Thupstan Tashi. During the interaction in Leh, the visiting members conveyed their appreciation for Gyalson’s sustained support to both Samstanling Gonpa and the school over the years.
Former CEC Adv. Gyalson gave a patient hearing to the delegation and reiterated his continued support for educational and monastic institutions in Nubra, emphasising the need to strengthen such centres in remote areas.
The delegation noted that his interventions had contributed to the functioning and growth of the Gonpa and the school, and sought his continued guidance in advancing infrastructure and academic initiatives.
Gyalson, in response, assured them of his continued engagement and support, underlining the importance of strengthening educational facilities in remote regions such as Nubra, where such institutions play a vital role in community development.
The visiting members also acknowledged the contributions of former BJP Councillor Rigzin Lundup, expressing gratitude for his efforts during the tenure of the 6th LAHDC Leh, which they said had aided the institution’s progress.
The interaction reflects ongoing coordination between public representatives and monastic bodies in Ladakh, particularly in sustaining and developing community-based educational centres in geographically challenging areas.
