Jammu, Jun 05: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu and Kashmir has registered a corruption case against Nazir Ahmed Wani, a retired Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) from the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department, Banihal. The case, filed under FIR No. 02/2025 at Police Station ACB Doda, falls under Sections 13(1)(b) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.
The case was initiated following a secret verification into allegations that the officer had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income during his tenure in government service. Investigations by the ACB revealed that Nazir Ahmed Wani had acquired substantial moveable and immoveable assets, both in his own name and in the names of his family members.
According to the verification, the accused owns a residential house in Gujjar Nagar, Jammu, and a double-storey house in Maitra, Ramban. Additionally, he possesses a residential complex with three shops in Chareel, Banihal, along with multiple vehicles and various financial documents. These findings suggest the accumulation of unaccounted wealth.
The ACB secured a search warrant from the Hon’ble Court of the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Doda, and subsequently conducted a search operation at the residential complex located on Old National Highway Road, Chareel, Tehsil Banihal, District Ramban. The operation was carried out in the presence of a magistrate and independent witnesses to ensure transparency.
The corruption investigation is ongoing, and further proceedings are expected as more evidence is gathered.
