New Delhi, Sept 10: The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the transfer of senior police officer Abdul Ghani Mir to Jammu and Kashmir, placing him in the segment of the Joint AGMUT Cadre with immediate effect.
Mir, a 1994-batch officer of the Indian Police Service, has returned from Central Deputation to take charge of his new responsibilities in the Union Territory. His posting will continue until further orders, restoring his role in the region where he has previously served in crucial positions.
The order, cleared by the Ministry and conveyed through the approval of Rakesh Kumar Singh, Under Secretary to the Government of India, underscores the government’s move to reinforce administrative presence in the sensitive Union Territory.
Mir, known for his long tenure in Jammu and Kashmir during earlier postings, returns at a time when policing and governance in the region remain in sharp focus. His re-induction marks another reshuffle within the AGMUT cadre, reflecting the Centre’s continuing exercise of aligning experienced officers with regional requirements.
