Drass, May 20 : Deputy Commissioner Drass, Imteeaz Kacho on Tuesday reviewed the functioning of the Forest Department and inspected the progress of works at the newly constructed Forest Range Office in Drass, while later visiting Yulboo village to assess drinking water facilities under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

At the Forest Range Office, the Deputy Commissioner was received by Mohammad Iyaz and other officials of the Forest Department. During the inspection, he reviewed various sections of the office and assessed the services being provided by the department.

The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the progress and construction quality of the new office infrastructure in the presence of Junior Engineer Shahjahan.

Interacting with officers and officials, Imteeaz Kacho stressed the importance of maintaining proper office infrastructure and directed the concerned authorities to ensure timely completion of the remaining works. He particularly emphasised the need for durable walling around the office premises and instructed officials to maintain quality standards in all aspects of the construction project.

Officials of the Forest Department briefed the Deputy Commissioner about ongoing developmental works and departmental activities being carried out in the region.

Reiterating the administration’s commitment towards strengthening public infrastructure, the Deputy Commissioner said efforts would continue to improve the functioning of government offices and ensure better public service delivery across Drass district.

Earlier in the day, the Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Drass, Vishal Atri, visited Yulboo village to inspect the functioning of drinking water facilities under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

The officers were accompanied by officials of the Public Health Engineering Department, including the Assistant Executive Engineer and Junior Engineer concerned.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with local residents and heard grievances related to the shortage of potable water in the village. The Numberdar and villagers highlighted the difficulties faced due to inadequate water supply and malfunctioning infrastructure.

Taking stock of the situation, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed feedback from PHE officials and directed immediate repair of non-functional pumps. He also instructed officials to utilise available resources effectively to restore and improve water supply facilities in the area.

Residents were advised to adopt sustainable water conservation practices, while the administration assured that the issue would be addressed on priority.

Villagers also raised concerns regarding flood protection measures in Yulboo. Responding to the demand, the Deputy Commissioner assured that the matter would be taken up with the Irrigation and Flood Protection Department for necessary action.

The officers later visited the village middle school, where they interacted with staff members and inspected the submersible pump installed within the school premises. Officials assured that the pump would be made functional at the earliest.

Residents of Yulboo appreciated the visit of the district administration and expressed hope for early redressal of their concerns related to water supply and infrastructure.
