Kargil, May 20 : Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil, Mohd Jaffer Akhoon on Tuesday inspected the school building and residential hostel facilities being developed for specially abled students at Kurbathang and the Council Secretariat, directing officials to ensure the institution becomes fully operational within a week.
The inspection was carried out in the presence of Sarwar Shehzad and Mansoor Hussain.
Officials informed the CEC that the institution has been established in accordance with the requirements and student strength, and has been designed to function as a Day Boarding-cum-Residential facility aimed at providing quality education, care and overall development opportunities for specially abled children.
During the visit, Dr Akhoon reviewed classrooms, hostel accommodation and other infrastructure within the campus. Stressing the need for inclusive infrastructure, he directed the concerned departments to ensure that every component of the institution is made fully disabled-friendly to enable safe and convenient access for students.
The CEC instructed officials to expedite the remaining works and make the school facility fully functional within a week. He also directed the executing agency to complete the construction of the residential hostel building by the end of August 2026.
Interacting with officers during the inspection, Dr Akhoon assured that transportation facilities would also be arranged to facilitate smooth access for students attending the institution.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at strengthening educational and support infrastructure for specially abled children in Kargil district through accessible facilities and residential support systems.
