Patna, Mar 14: Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain was sworn in as Bihar’s new governor on Saturday, stepping into the Raj Bhavan with a decorated military legacy that promises steady leadership for the state.
Patna High Court Chief Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo administered the oath at a packed Lok Bhavan ceremony, attended by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his cabinet, and top officials. Hasnain replaces Arif Mohammed Khan, bringing his experience from commanding the Army’s 15 Corps in Jammu & Kashmir and serving as Military Secretary.
Post-retirement, he stayed in the spotlight as Chancellor of Central University of Kashmir (2018) and NDMA member (2020). Families and well-wishers see his appointment as a fresh boost for Bihar’s security and disaster readiness.
