Kathmandu, March 12: Sixteen Nepalese nationals, lured to Cambodia with promises of high-paying jobs, were rescued from illegal work like online scamming and casinos, then safely repatriated on Thursday, the foreign ministry said.
Agents had trafficked them there. The Nepal embassy in Bangkok coordinated the effort with Cambodian authorities.
Sources note many more Nepalis remain trapped in harsh conditions, often working visa-less or overstaying visas. Rescue operations continue.
