Amritsar, Oct 11: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the historic approval of the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, a visionary initiative that will transform agriculture across India. Under this scheme, 100 low-productivity districts have been identified for focused intervention, with Punjab represented through the inclusion of Fazilka district.
Chugh said the Rs. 24,000 crore annual outlay for the next six years under this scheme reflects the Modi government’s unwavering commitment to India’s annadata. He noted that the scheme will ensure better irrigation, modern storage facilities, crop diversification, and improved credit access, directly benefitting nearly 1.7 crore farmers across the nation.
Highlighting Fazilka’s inclusion, Chugh said this is a matter of pride for Punjab and a long-awaited opportunity for farmers of the border belt who have faced infrastructural and economic challenges. “Prime Minister Modi has once again placed the welfare of Punjab’s farmers high on the national agenda,” he said.
Chugh emphasised that PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana embodies the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas. He recalled that from PM-Kisan income support to crop insurance and record investment in rural infrastructure, the Modi government has consistently worked to secure the future of India’s farmers.
Thanking the Prime Minister, Chugh said, “This scheme is not just about higher productivity but also about ensuring dignity and prosperity for farmers. It will strengthen the rural economy, open new opportunities in storage, processing, and agri-business, and bring a new dawn of hope for Punjab and India’s agriculture. This is yet another decisive step towards building a self-reliant and prosperous Punjab within a Viksit Bharat.”
