Leh, Sept 29: The General Officer Commanding (GOC) and all ranks of the Fire and Fury Corps extended their heartfelt congratulations to the Ladakh Women’s Ice Hockey Team for clinching the Gold Medal at the prestigious Union Ice Hockey Tournament 2025 held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The team from Ladakh displayed exceptional skill, resilience, and teamwork to emerge champions on an international stage, bringing immense pride not only to the Union Territory but also to the nation. This achievement marks a significant milestone in promoting ice hockey—a sport deeply rooted in Ladakh’s culture—and demonstrates the remarkable potential of women athletes from the high-altitude region.

The GOC lauded the team for their grit and determination, which enabled them to overcome challenges and outperform strong competitors from across participating countries. He highlighted that the victory is an inspiration for youth across Ladakh and the entire country, showcasing how passion and discipline can lead to global recognition.

Fire and Fury Corps personnel, who share a close bond with the people of Ladakh, joined in celebrating the team’s success. They emphasized that the triumph not only strengthens India’s presence in international ice hockey but also reflects the indomitable spirit of Ladakhi women.

The victory has generated a wave of enthusiasm back home, with local communities, schools, and sports organizations hailing the players as role models. The Gold Medal win is expected to give a major boost to the promotion of winter sports in Ladakh, paving the way for more opportunities for aspiring athletes.
