Leh, Sept 17: The Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), Ladakh’s first Yoga Certification Board-accredited institute, inaugurated a one-month Yoga Instructor Course at its Mahabodhi Yoga and Meditation Centre in Leh, reaffirming its pioneering role in advancing yoga education in the region.
The opening ceremony brought together dignitaries, yoga scholars, and aspiring teachers who gathered to embark on a shared journey of discipline, awareness, and service. The programme, recognised by the Ministry of AYUSH, reflects MIMC’s long-standing mission to promote yoga and meditation as both a personal practice and a means of community service.
Organised under the banner of MIMC, the course marks another significant step in the organisation’s efforts to cultivate yoga and meditation across Ladakh. The institute holds the distinction of being the first Yoga Certification Board-accredited centre in the Union Territory, a recognition granted by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. In 2021, its Founder and Spiritual Director, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, was honoured with the Prime Minister’s Yoga Award—an accolade that placed Ladakh prominently on the national map of yoga excellence.
Addressing the inaugural gathering, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena emphasised that the course is designed not merely to train instructors, but to instil a deeper understanding of yoga as a holistic way of life. Participants will undergo structured sessions, daily meditation, and reflective group practices, all aimed at strengthening personal discipline while nurturing the ability to guide others with awareness and compassion.
MIMC continues to conduct yoga and meditation programmes at its main campus in Choglamsar as well as its City Centre in Changspa, steadily nurturing a vibrant community of practitioners inspired by the enduring vision and guidance of Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena.
