Kargil, Jun 19: In a continued effort to reach out to rural communities and strengthen grassroots-level infrastructure, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon THursday visited Sangrah village, where he personally handed over essential items to support local community centres.
During the visit, Dr Akhoon distributed kitchen sets, shamiyanas (tents), and tarpaulin sheets to three community centres in Sangrah. These items will be used for community gatherings, social functions, and emergency needs — a step welcomed by the villagers.
Speaking on the occasion, CEC Dr Akhoon said that public outreach and timely support to rural areas are a key part of LAHDC Kargil’s developmental agenda.
“We are committed to bringing meaningful help to where it’s needed the most. Villages like Sangrah deserve attention and support, and we will continue to make sure that no area feels ignored,” he said.
The CEC also interacted with locals, listened to their concerns, and assured them that further demands regarding infrastructure and community support would be taken up in a phased manner. He reiterated that LAHDC Kargil is focusing on development that is inclusive, people-oriented, and reaches the last mile.
Locals expressed their heartfelt thanks to Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon for visiting the village in person and for addressing their needs proactively.
Many appreciated the fact that the CEC is not only delivering on commitments but actively working to strengthen public trust and ensure that developmental benefits reach every household — especially in far-flung areas where even basic facilities can make a big difference.
Later, HCEC also inspected various developmental works in the village.
Pertinent to mention here that, to strengthen Education sector in Kargil district, the CEC tht other day, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between LAHDC Kargil and Wipro Foundation Bangalore.
During the meeting threadbare discussion and deliberations were done on the agenda of MOU, including felicitating Computer Education across the Government Schools of Kargil and training of resource person ICT, establishment of career development cell and long-term partnership with Azim Premji University for admissions in Higher Education on scholarship.
CEC Dr Jaffar expressed happiness over the signing of MOU between LAHDC and Wipro foundation and expressed gratitude to the foundation for initiating noble initiatives in this far off area of Ladakh.
Dr Jaffer said the idea of fellowship for creating resource persons in Computer Education is a novel idea. He added LAHDC will extend all possible support to Wipro for its initiatives under Education, Health and Environment in Kargil district.
