LEH: The Viksit Vibrant Village Programme (VVVP) under Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) will commence in Ladakh on June 3, with 40 young participants from Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat set to undertake an immersive engagement with border communities as part of an initiative aimed at strengthening national integration and promoting youth participation in nation-building.

The programme, being organised by MY Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the UT Administration and partner organisations, will place participants in identified border villages where they will interact directly with local communities and gain exposure to the socio-economic realities of frontier regions.

Officials associated with the initiative said the programme has been designed to bridge the gap between youth from urban and semi-urban regions and communities residing in remote border areas, while fostering a deeper understanding of India’s cultural diversity, developmental aspirations and strategic frontiers.

Under the programme framework, participants will be divided into groups and assigned to selected villages, where they will stay for the duration of the immersion. The village-based engagement is expected to provide firsthand insights into local livelihoods, traditional practices, environmental conditions and community-led development initiatives.

The exercise also seeks to familiarise participants with the opportunities and challenges associated with life in border settlements, which often remain geographically isolated despite their strategic importance.

Each participant group will be accompanied by District Youth Officers and trained volunteers who will facilitate interactions with village communities, youth groups and local leadership during the course of the programme.

Besides village immersion, the programme will include orientation sessions, leadership workshops and community engagement activities aimed at encouraging civic participation, social responsibility and leadership development among the participants.

A cultural exchange component has also been incorporated into the programme schedule. During a special cultural evening, participants will present folk traditions, music and dance forms from their respective states, creating a platform for intercultural dialogue and mutual learning.

Officials said such interactions are intended to promote greater appreciation of India’s pluralistic social fabric while strengthening bonds among youth from diverse geographical and cultural backgrounds.

The initiative forms part of MY Bharat’s broader efforts to encourage meaningful youth engagement with frontier regions and expose young citizens to grassroots development processes. By enabling participants to experience life in border villages firsthand, the programme aims to nurture a stronger sense of civic responsibility and awareness of the role played by border communities in the country’s development and security framework.

The programme will conclude with participants documenting their experiences, observations and recommendations. Officials said these reflections are expected to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat by offering perspectives on inclusive development, youth engagement and stronger integration between border regions and the rest of the country.
