Leh, Feb 19: The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh, on Wednesday concluded a two-day intensive workshop on lesson planning conducted in collaboration with the 17000ft Foundation, drawing participation from 253 teachers across government and private schools of Leh district.

The workshop was led by expert resource person Ms. Archana Mahindra, who delivered a structured and practical training module focused on effective lesson planning strategies. Her sessions centred on classroom-ready methods, learner-focused teaching practices, and structured instructional techniques designed to improve academic outcomes.

Participants engaged in interactive exercises aimed at strengthening their classroom delivery. Teachers described the sessions as practical and motivating, expressing confidence that the approaches shared during the workshop would enhance classroom instruction and enrich student learning experiences.

Mirza Mehdi, Principal DIET Leh, commended Ms. Mahindra for her dedicated efforts in conducting the training in an engaging manner. He urged teachers to apply the methodologies at the grassroots level to ensure students derive maximum academic benefit.

Madam Tsering Yangdol, Head of Department, DIET Leh, delivered the vote of thanks and acknowledged the contribution of the 17000ft Foundation and participating teachers for their commitment and active involvement throughout the programme.

Earlier, on the fourth day of a parallel capacity-building initiative, around 40 members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and representatives of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from food processing and other sectors participated in an awareness programme aimed at strengthening product quality and market preparedness.

Thinley Nurbu, Block Investigator at the District Industries Centre Leh, welcomed participants and stressed the need for product certification, quality assurance, branding, and market readiness for women-led enterprises and MSMEs. He noted that such initiatives under the RAMP Programme are intended to enhance competitiveness and encourage formalisation of local enterprises in Ladakh.

The session began with a detailed presentation by the State Programme Implementation Unit (SPIU), RAMP Ladakh, outlining objectives, interventions and support available to MSMEs.

Ms. Tsering Diskit, Food Analyst from the Food Safety Department Leh, conducted a session on the importance of FSSAI registration and compliance with food safety standards. A live demonstration of the registration process was held to give participants practical guidance.

Ms. Fariha Fatima from EDII Ladakh addressed participants on branding, labelling and packaging, highlighting their role in improving market value and consumer trust. She also shared success stories of young entrepreneurs from Ladakh to motivate SHG members.

In the afternoon, participants visited Royal Enfield Pitstop Kharu, where Manager Thinley Dorjey explained operational practices, emphasising hygiene standards, safe food handling and quality control measures essential for sustainable growth.

The programme concluded with an awareness session on schemes of the Industries and Commerce Department, including PMEGP and PMFME. Participants were also provided on-the-spot UDYAM registration assistance.

Officials said the initiative aims to strengthen women-led enterprises and promote compliance with quality standards among MSMEs across the Union Territory of Ladakh.
