Jammu, Mar 29: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra on Sunday alleged that the people of the country have suffered immensely under the BJP and asked farmers and youth to stand up and free the country of “pro-rich” government.
Karra also criticised the BJP for not delivering on its assurance to restore statehood to the Union Territory and vowed to continue its agitation.
Addressing a well attended ‘Kissan Sammelan” at Nagri in Kathua district, the JKPCC president claimed that the common people in the country have suffered the most under BJP regime for the past 12 years as the central government worked for the “big corporate friends” only.
“The Prime Minister is compromised and has surrendered before US president Donald Trump compromising the dignity and sovereignty of 140 crore Indians,” he said, exhorting the farmers and youth to free the country of “pro-rich and anti-people” Modi regime.
Post 2019 when the erstwhile state was bifurcated into two UTs and its special status revoked, he said Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts are losing jobs and land which need to be safeguarded.
He pitched for restoration of statehood to J&K and said the centre by not keeping its promises has betrayed the people of the region.
Working President Raman Bhalla also criticized the centre for not restoring the statehood to J&K despite promises by Prime Minister and Home Minister.
“The people of J&K are suffering due to dual control system and lack of statehood,” he said.
Former minister Lal Singh accused BJP of snatching the Dogra identity status and rights of the people by bifurcating the erstwhile state into two UTs.
“Our land, jobs and natural resources are being looted by outsiders at the cost of locals. The people of Kathua, Samba and Jammu have suffered the most with crime rate on rise. The drug mafia has also become very active spoiling our youth,” he said, demanding immediate restoration of statehood.
