SRINAGAR, JUNE 21: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday led the International Day of Yoga celebrations at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) on the banks of Dal Lake, describing yoga as a priceless gift of India’s ancient heritage that promotes holistic health and well-being.
Addressing participants at the event, Sinha said yoga serves as a powerful means of maintaining both physical and mental health and guides people towards a more balanced and fulfilling life.
Referring to this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” he said rising stress levels and modern health challenges have made yoga more relevant than ever.
“Yoga stands as an invaluable treasure of our ancient Indian heritage. It harmonises mind and body, strengthens the bond between humanity and nature, and guides us towards a more holistic realm of health and happiness,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
Calling yoga a ray of hope in today’s fast-paced world, Sinha urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to actively participate in yoga programmes and adopt healthier lifestyles.
“Let us take a step towards wellness today by participating and committing ourselves to a healthier way of life,” he said.
Health Minister Sakina Ittoo, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, and several senior officers and citizens participated in the Yoga Day celebrations.
