LUCKNOW, October 30: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said the improvement in the state’s law and order situation has encouraged more women to join the workforce while also boosting business activities during night hours.
In a post on social media platform X, Adityanath said illuminated markets and commercial establishments at night reflected growing business confidence and the improved security environment in the state.
Highlighting women’s safety, the Chief Minister said women working night shifts and performing their professional duties without fear represented not only individual progress but also the development of society as a whole.
He claimed that before 2017, crime and insecurity had restricted commercial activities after sunset, while concerns over women’s safety prevented many families from allowing women to work during late hours.
According to Adityanath, the situation changed under the BJP government, which adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards crime and criminals under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said stronger law enforcement and a focus on women’s security had helped markets remain operational at night, creating fresh opportunities for traders while enabling women to pursue their professional ambitions.
The Chief Minister also cited figures indicating a significant rise in women’s workforce participation in Uttar Pradesh, claiming that it had increased from around 13 per cent in 2017 to 36 per cent at present.
He described the increase as a reflection of growing confidence, economic empowerment and self-reliance among women in the state.
