CEC congratulates, calls it a proud moment
Leh, Aug 31: The Indian Women’s Ice Hockey Team was featured today on Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) Season 17 in a special episode marking National Sports Day. Hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, the episode celebrated the team’s inspiring journey from training on frozen lakes in Ladakh to bringing home international recognition.
The team recently created history by winning the Bronze medal at the IIHF Asia Cup, a milestone that has brought pride not only to Ladakh but to the entire nation.
On the KBC stage, the players shared their experiences, the challenges they faced in pursuing ice hockey in extreme conditions, and their determination to succeed against all odds.
Amitabh Bachchan, moved by their story, commended the players for their spirit and achievement, stating that their resolve has made the entire country proud.
On this occasion, the Chairman, Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the team.
He said, “This is a proud moment not only for Ladakh but for the whole of India. The hard work and perseverance of our girls have truly paid off. With this achievement, the daughters of Ladakh stand as an inspiration for the nation, proving that Ladakhi girls can excel on the national and international stage. Their success has broken barriers and shown that talent from Ladakh can shine on the biggest platforms, inspiring generations to come.”
Today’s KBC special stood as a tribute to the spirit of dedication and resilience of the young women from Ladakh who continue to script new chapters for Indian ice hockey.
