JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 18: A day after security forces killed two Pakistani terrorists allegedly affiliated with the proscribed Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Jammu-based White Knight Corps, Lt Gen P K Mishra, visited the encounter site in Udhampur district on Friday to review the ongoing counter-terrorism operation.
Lt Gen Mishra was accompanied by GOC Delta Force, the Army’s specialised counter-insurgency formation operating across the Chenab Valley and parts of Udhampur.
The White Knight Corps said the Corps Commander visited Brattal in Udhampur to assess the situation on the ground and review the progress of ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
During the visit, the GOC reviewed the evolving security situation, operational developments and measures being taken to maintain operational readiness and ensure a coordinated response to emerging threats.
The Army commander also commended the troops for the successful operation and praised their professionalism, morale and commitment during the counter-terror effort.
Two suspected JeM terrorists were killed and an alleged over-ground worker (OGW) was detained during a joint operation in the forests of Brattal Sohan in the Majlta area of Udhampur on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
Security forces subsequently recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the slain terrorists, including a US-made M4 carbine.
The joint search operation involving the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF was continuing in the dense forest area as security forces conducted further searches for possible threats and additional evidence.
