SRINAGAR, APR 7: A fresh spell of wet weather is set to impact several parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with the Meteorological Department forecasting intermittent rain, snow, and thunderstorms across the Union Territory.
According to the latest weather update, widespread light to moderate rainfall and snowfall is expected across most regions on April 7 and 8.
Officials have warned that some areas may experience moderate to heavy rainfall, particularly during the night hours, accompanied by thunder, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds at isolated locations.
The weather is expected to remain unstable on April 9 and 10 as well, with another spell of light rain likely at many places, especially towards the afternoon hours.
However, conditions are forecast to improve thereafter, with largely dry weather predicted from April 11 to 16. Brief spells of light rain may still occur in some areas during the afternoon, but no major weather disturbances are anticipated during this period.
Authorities have issued an advisory urging residents to remain cautious. There is a possibility of thunderstorms, strong winds, and hailstorms at a few locations during April 7–8, which may lead to localized damage. In addition, vulnerable areas may face landslides, while low-lying regions could experience waterlogging due to continuous rainfall.
Farmers across the region have been advised to temporarily suspend agricultural operations to avoid losses, particularly in view of the adverse weather conditions and risk of hail damage to crops.
Meanwhile, travelers have been cautioned to plan their journeys carefully, keeping in mind the potential for road disruptions, slippery conditions, and reduced visibility in hilly areas.
The administration and disaster management authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged the public to follow official updates and safety advisories as the weather system progresses.
