Kargil, Mar 16: Emphasising coordinated planning and timely execution of rural development initiatives, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, on Monday directed district departments to work in close convergence while finalising the Annual Action Plan under the Viksit Bharat Gram G (VB GRAM-G) programme for the financial year 2026–27.
The directions were issued during a review meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner at the Conference Hall in Baroo, where officials examined block-wise proposals prepared under the programme.
The meeting was attended by the Assistant Commissioner Development, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, Executive Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, a representative from the Chief Medical Officer’s office, and Block Development Officers representing various blocks of the district.
During the review, the Block Development Officers presented the abstract of the proposed Annual Action Plan under the VB GRAM-G convergence framework for the upcoming financial year.
While examining the proposals, the Deputy Commissioner called for strengthened inter-departmental coordination to ensure that the plan reflects practical developmental priorities across rural areas of the district. He stressed that works related to disaster preparedness should form an integral part of the plan, including repair and maintenance of public infrastructure, plantation drives, land development initiatives, and rural sanitation measures.
Kumar also advised departments to include snow and debris clearance works, development of school playgrounds, and construction of compound walls where required in the proposed plan.
Highlighting the importance of integrating healthcare infrastructure needs, the Deputy Commissioner asked the representative of the Chief Medical Officer’s office to share details of AAMs so that provisions related to solid waste management, fencing, ramps, and other supporting infrastructure could be incorporated into the plan.
Calling for prompt follow-up, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned departments to expedite the process and ensure that the Annual Action Plan is finalised by March 25 for submission and approval.
