Prof. Kushwaha calls Victory a testament to UoL’s discipline and support
Kargil, Nov. 17: Ghulam Haider, a student of Environmental Science at the University of Ladakh (UoL), clinched the top position in the Grand Marathon Pulwama 2025, held on Sunday. The 17-km race, organised by JKNDP, began at Bandzoo in Pulwama and culminated at the Samboora Cricket Ground, drawing participants exclusively from the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Haider’s performance stood out in the competitive field, earning him wide acclaim within the university. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha commended the young athlete for his discipline and commitment, noting that the win reflects the university’s rising sporting profile.
The Vice Chancellor also lauded the Department of Physical Education and the In-charge Administration of Kargil Campus, Dr. Mehboob Ali, for guiding Haider through months of preparation. Officials said the campus extended full training support, including access to gym facilities and open fields, enabling Haider to train rigorously for the event.
University authorities said the achievement has boosted the morale of students across the Kargil Campus, adding that Haider’s feat underscores the growing emphasis on sports alongside academics.
